Neighborhood Accident*** Personal Account & Opinion.

A neighbor told me he was an eye witness to the aftermath of an accident. A motorcyclist hit a female pedestrian who was attemtping to cross First Ave-legally. Neighbor said he was possibly 10 seconds from the actual collision. His assumption is that the motorcyclist had run a red light. Hit the woman. She fell. Leg mangled. Motorcyclist also fell off the bike. Bike contiued spinning up the avenue. Bad scene. My take is that if the motorcyclist did indeed run a red light- this increasing lawlessness is caused by the 25 year lack of enforcement allowed by the NYPD on the cycling micro transport community. This lack of enforcment is an egregious and recklessly irresponsible decision by several administrations. The negligence is a result of the undue influence of Transportation Alternatives. TA continues to push for this lunacy.We live in a run for your life environment. Danger dwells within and without. A man from the islands put it in a musical way when we discussed the fact that lawlessness overlooked on the streets and sidewalks promotes a simialr attitude in other areas. As of Nov 14, 2024 it was declared by NYS Gov. Hochul that she intended for the Congestion Tax to be unpaused-minipause-menopause?-on January 5th 2025. President Elect Trump (47) seems to have a vociferous opposition to what the aptly named Vision Zero has caused. Chaos and congestion. He seems poised to do away with the bargain $9.00 tax. Down from $15.00. Throw in aversion to public transportation busses. New Jersay lead by Representative and likely candidate for Governor Josh Gottheimer will oppose the "money grab". We will see if Trump's bull in the China shop approach will deter the revenuers and great man zealots. However a more reasonable approach would be for the evaded environmental impact study to be conducted to analyze just what would be optimal for the bike program. Importantly enforcement of the laws by the undermined NYPD needs to be activated to establish the recklessly avoided responsible bike program.
