WABC Pedro Rivera-Scooter Crime in Bronx
Pedro Rivera reports on two incidents involving scooter getaways in the Bronx.
First in Mt. Eden-not the Garden of Eden- three men on a scooter shot and wounded
a group of people and sped away. Next the NYPD stepped up pressure on illegal
scooters and spooked a rider who sped away and crashed into a light post. Rider
suffered fatal injuries. Had illegal license plates. May have been involved
in the previous shooting.NYPD has confiscated 9500 scooters since Jan 1 24.
Bronx substantial percentage.***It would have been preferable to establish
and apply policies that would have curtailed the flagrant lawlessness that is
rampant on the streets and sidewalks**25 years ago. The energy of the NYPD could
have been coordinated with DOT and FDNY. A cooperative task force to promote
public safety. Why wasn't this done?? Ask Transportation Alternatives. Ask
former DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik Khan. Ask the Sophist in Chief Charles
Komanoff. Ask visionary Mark Gorton.****************https://abc7ny.com/videoClip/14682296/
Kevin Duggan *Streetsblog* Charging Station Outside City Hall
A charging station to be installed in place of a vacant newstand outside
City Hall. Sen. Schumer brought a million dollars. Los Deliveristas founders
will be responsible for operating the facility. CB #1 quibbled with the design.
The Upper West Side was against establishing a charging station on the
72nd St Broadway location.*********https://nyc.streetsblog.org/2024/04/17/landmarks-officials-green-light-delivery-worker-hub-outside-city-hall

ABC-Kemberly Richardson-Rogue bike shop busted.
Mr. Lu had been visited 4 times by the FDNY/NYPD. Had a load of uncertified
batteries and other potentially dangerous equipment. The city finally cracked
down. Lu arrested for reckless endagerment. Given the bail system or lack thereof
he will likely be out and about his business toute suite.

Yahoo News*** Millenials Heading West
Perhaps the thrill of rogue riding on the streets and sidewalks of
New York is waning like a gibbous moon for millenials. They are packing
up and taking off for locations that offer more for less.*************

Village Sun-Scott Stringer Mulling Run for Mayor
Stringer points out defects in the Adams administration policies and
practices. This writer points out in the comments that Stringer was
an eager cohort of Transportation Alternatives. The damage that is being
done to the city by that collaboration is far greater than Stringer's
alleged sexual harassment of a volunteer in a previous campaign.***

Village Sun-Editorial Michelle Herman-"Where Have All the Bicycles Gone?"
Michelle Herman was a principle writer of the Transportation Alternatives
game plan back in the last century. While Charles "the sophist" Komanoff
seemingly gloats at the current crisis of lawlessness, danger and damage
to the New York quality of life-Ms Herman laments what micro moblity has done
to the bike lanes that were supposed to promote safety for cyclists and
pedestrians alike. Alas chaos prevails. Here is the insider's cry of regret
and growing apprehension for her personal safety. We note repetitively that there
was NO ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STUDY AND NO EFFORT TO ESTABLISH A RESPONSIBLE BIKE
CULTURE. Read it and weep.**********
