CM Bottcher crows about bike lanes & open streets

The full tilt push for commercial interests at the expense of public safety and quality of life continues. There is no safety without a responsible bike micros transport culture. There is none. Never has been. Bike lanes are just another way to push congestion pricing. Open Streets-another private use of public space. Happy holidays. Councilman Eric Bottcher***** Expanding Citi Bike – Following its record-breaking ridership, Citi Bike is doubling its number of docking stations, doubling e-bike supply, and reducing pricing via price capping. Our administration is also on track to create a record number of protected bike lanes and make cycling safer for all! Retail theft task force – We announced a task force of elected officials, law enforcement, small businesses, national retailers, organized labor, and business groups to advise on strategies for combatting individual shoplifting and organized crime rings targeting NYC’s retailers. Holiday Open Streets – We’re increasing our wintertime Open Streets by 25% to create more car-free streets along Fifth Avenue and around Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall! This will make for magical holiday memories and boost local business sales.
