It should take 10 minutes to call 4 Council Members. It will make ALL the difference! "Please sign Priscilla's Law ( Intro 0802-2026) requiring registration and visible plates for all electric assist vehicles. This will save lives, lessen injuries and improve the quality of life of all New Yorkers.” Some facts for you to share - if you like.... The facts are that the majority of your constituents want accountability for the e-vehicle riders who leave the scene of a crash with an injured victim lying on the ground, as they do the majority of the time, and for riders who ride egregiously with no consequence. With registered and visible plates on all e- vehicles, traffic cameras, which do not discriminate, will capture dangerous rider behavior (speeding, running lights..) and send the rider a traffic ticket. ONLY accountability changes behavior. It has been FIVE YEARS of zero accountability for e-vehicle riders who maim and kill New Yorkers. Enough is enough! How many more pedestrians, cyclists, e-bikers and dogs must be maimed or killed before this commonsense bill is passed? Listen to the MAJORITY and not the wealthy, special- interest bike lobby (Transportation Alternatives); a group that wants no rider accountability, because they receive huge donations from Lyft/Citibike and delivery app companies, and therefore are against any safety regulation that might dissuade bike riding-- including requiring HELMETS for adults. The bike lobby puts their profits over human lives. They value money over safety. Listen to US, the majority! NYPD ( and therefore DOT stats) are entirely inaccurate. Police rarely report crashes. Often, the EMT arrives on the crash scene before police arrive and take the injured victim to ER. Victims don't know to report or care to report after their hospital release, when their focus is on healing. The victims who do try to report after their release are often told "it's too late." Even when police ARE on the crash scene, they often don't report because "rider fled-so there is no point." All car crashes are reported, as they should be. The NYPD reports less than 50 e-vehicle crashes with injuries for 2024! Unbelievable! Bellevue Hospital Emergency Room "admitted 220 micromobility injuries in 2023 through Aug 2024 alone, stated Bellevue ER Doctor Angela Pfaff, who sees and average of one admission per day". And, Bellevue is only ONE of fifty-four ER Hospitals in NYC! Thank you! ๐Ÿ’œJanet Janet Schroeder NYC-EVSA, Co-Founder & Director www.nycevsa.org Virus-free.www.avast.com
