Endorsements for June 23 2026 Election

For the purposes of The Coalition Against Rogue Riding-PUBLIC SAFETY on the streets and sidewalks CARR supports REP. DAN GOLDMAN for return to Congress from District 10. For the Assembly seat from NYS D 66 Carr supports both DAVID SIFFERT and FURHAN AHMAD. They have both demonstrated a concern for and worked on behalf of the community. CARR has no doubt both candidates would serve the interest of public safety for D 66.

Electric Vehicle Safety Alliance-Protest @CB #7

This is an account of the hearing about reconfiguration of W 72nd St. The extreme manipulation is representative of what Transportation Alternatives has been concocting for decades. Community Boards. Police statistics. The aptly named Vision Zero has been a putsch of hubris and avarice. Pure zealotry. The public has been taken for a ride. Quality of life bludgeoned. Delivery apps gouge both restaurants and consumers. Public safety shot. Lithium ion fires from bike batteries wreak havoc. Read it and get angry.**************Thank you to those who attended the CB7 Full Board meeting on Tuesday evening at 6:30PM, to speak against W.72nd St. double bike lane redesign. It was a packed house. The 140 in- person speakers were either opposed or in favor of the redesign in fairly equal numbers, HOWEVER, over half people speaking FOR the redesign were from Trans Alt/Families For Safe Streets ( they wore stickers) and do not live on UWS. They were directed by someone within CB7 board, to get there early -and they did- taking up many of the limited capacity seating. EVSA heard of this TA directive being spread through social media, a couple of hours before the meeting and emailed and texted who we could. There were at least 100 people outside who were there before 6PM that didn't get in, and I was one of them. Most were clearly against the bike lane, as I was out there for 45 minutes observing. And there were 170 people on zoom who never got to speak! They were waiting for hours, just to be told 'you can't speak." This happened to many of you. Horrible! CB7 announced their seven new board members at the Tue night meeting, just in time for them to vote on the redesign. Six of the seven voted for it, just enough votes to secure their win- how convenient! The board rushed them in so fast that they hadn't yet told the rejected applicants, such as me, that we weren't selected. I have been rejected for four years in a row. What kind of board or company or organization would EVER publicly announce their new members before notifying the rejected applicants? I will tell you who would.... CB7 would! CB7 is highly infiltrated by the bike lobby, just as they have infiltrated our government agencies, elected officials and our press! These are facts, not conspiracy. Their agenda aligns with the lobbyists, NOT the community they serve. This is highly corrupt, disheartening, and infuriating! Our community boards are now echo chambers

NYT 2 Riders Dead From Head on Crash on 59th St Bridge

Thursday 5/28/26 just after 8 AM a standup scooter likley traveling at a lethal rate of speed crashed into a lightweight pedal bike. 2 fatalities resulted. Push has come to shove. Going on 3 decades of encroaching chaos has resulted in an environment of lurking and naked danger. It's clear that the well funded zealotry of Transportation Alternatives and the avarice of the delivery apps has warped the streets and sidewalks with a lack of safe passage. The NYPD has been undermined with the obstinate resistance of TA to enforcement. Enforcement is the backbone of a responsible bike culture. TA has an addled approach to transportation advocacy. Reckless disregard for public safety. Speed may kill-but a sociopathic disregard for common decency and public safety excacerbates the situation into an environment that is" a kind of terrorism."************** https://www.nytimes.com/2026/05/28/nyregion/queensboro-bridge-nyc-bike-scooter-crash-deaths.html

David Siffert-Candidate-Response to email from CARR RE Priscilla's Law

Here is the thoughtful response to Brown's inquiry about how Siffert would handle the public safety crisis & Priscilla's Law. I responded by further asking about** vicarious liability.** Would the apps-in addition to being responsible for registration and issuing license plates be liable for infractions, ********** RESPONSE FROM DAVID SIFFERT********** Thanks to both of you for reaching out on this! I have a two year old, who I usually bring around in a baby carrier, so I have had a lot of particularly scary encounters with e-bikes and very much understand we have a real problem. I also know how under-reported actual bike collisions are, having many close friends and family members sustain serious injuries and never report them. Rather than Priscilla's Law as-is -- which, honestly, is extremely unlikely to pass -- I would like to put the obligation on delivery apps and Citibike. The reason being that many undocumented people rely on e-bikes, and they are unlikely to register their bikes, often for good reason. This will result in a situation where (a) they will get pulled over for plate violations and be put in danger and (b) our systems to enforce the law on them will be ineffective, and we may wind up with more lawlessness. So here's what I propose: the delivery apps are required to do the registration for each bike that is making deliveries for them, and required to give a license plate to the driver of the bike. We can do something similar for Citibike. This will also allow for certain kinds of automated enforcement that don't rely on NYPD being on every corner -- as I'm sure you know, their idea of enforcement is to let anyone going too fast zoom right by and only stop people biking slowly and safely for minor infractions. I should mention that the current version of Priscilla's Law has no co-sponsors in the Senate and only 4 co-sponsors in the Assembly, so I think putting all our eggs in that one basket for bike safety may wind up an uphill battle. I think requiring the delivery apps and Citibike to do the registration will be a lot more likely to pass. We could do that as an amendment to Priscilla's Law or as a separate bill. I also want to say, once again, how committed I am to dealing with this issue. It affects me and my toddler personally.

CARR email to Candidate David Siffert

Law Professor and father of a 2 year old toddler is a candidate for Assembly D 66. Civil Rights attornery. Law Prof at NYU. Experienced with writing bills and the operation of Albany politics. Following my email to Siffert.Next will appear his timely and thoughtful response.*************** Subject: Public Safety My name is Jack Brown. Veteran of the bike industry Long time advocate for a responsible bike culture and restoring sanity and safety to the streets and sidewalks. Spokesman for the Coalition Against Rogue Riding. See blog.Downtown org. Soho Alliance. CCRC of Chinatown etc. I would like to know your position on Priscilla's Law. You are no doubt aware of the crisis caused by the lack of a responsible bike and micro transport culture. The NYPD having been undermined in the process. The Electric Vehicle Safety Alliance has supported legislation to require registration and licensing of all electric powered e-bikes and stand up scooters. As you may be aware the statistics on accidents caused by the e-bikes are radically under reported. Transportation Alternatives has exercised undue influence since Bloomberg occupied the Mayoral office. They zealously oppose enforcement by the NYPD. Enforcement being the backbone of a responsible bike culture. Some elected public officials have said that they consider Charles Komanoff-the sophist- in- chief of TA- to be delusional. Yet some still succumb to the arm twisting of the well funded TA. Additionally the delivery apps have opposed measures that would restore sanity and safety to the streets and sidewalks. Again, I am most impressed by your record of activity. I await your take on Priscilla's Law-soon to come out of the Transportation Committee for a floor vote in Albany. And how you might pursue rectifying what has been a reckless disregard of the public safety by successive administrations. Thank you for your work and I await your response. Sincerely, Jack Brown

Delivery App PRICE GOUGING Cong. Dan Goldman

Cong.Dan Goldman of the NYC 10th District is takig on the Delivery App price gouging. Fees are stealthily attached to an order just prior to delivery. Hence a hamburger that might have cost $8.00 winds up double that. Pretty steep for cow meat. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise given the way TA & Apps operate. I have little sympathy for the narcissists who cannot be bothered to get off their butts and walk to pick up an order. It is optional to order out or not order out. What does concern me is the fact that the delivery agents are running their hustle to perpetuate both the tip and the time limit. This creates a public safety crisis. The zealotry and greed has fomented a metastasizing crisis that has gone on for more than a quarter century. Ever since the currently decrepit Rudy Giuliani departed reluctantly after 9-11 and 3 times an oligarch Michael Bloomberg assumed the throne and stifled enforcement by the NYPD. Shame on them and the ensuing city fathers who perpetuated a reckless disregard of public safety.*****The COALITION AGAINST ROGUE RIDING again endorses Rep. Dan Goldman for re-election. Primary June 23rd.************+++++++

Electric Vehicle Safety Alliance-**Public Safety Crisis

In the interest of saving space I am providing a link to an EVSA email detailing various aspects of the plague that Transportation Alternatives has perpetrated on the New York City public. In the words of a Neurology Doc from St. Barnabas it is a "public safety crisis". More than one public official has said to me that they consider Charles Komanoff to be "delusional."(sophist- in - chief of TA) Yet they seem reluctant to take responsible action to remediate the situation. We the majority must sustain our efforts to contest and prevail over the reckless disregard for public safety and rationality.**********https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/FMfcgzQgLjRqhpcKdZLKJFgkCWhnGwxB

CM Simcha Felder -Brooklyn (Flatbush area) signed Priscilla’s Law(0606) last year 212-788-7357 CM Sandra Ung -Queens (Flushing area) signed Priscilla’s Law (0606) last year 718-888-8747 Please use your own words but feel free to take from mine below. It should take 10 minutes to call 4 Council Members. It will make ALL the difference! "Please sign Priscilla's Law ( Intro 0802-2026) requiring registration and visible plates for all electric assist vehicles. This will save lives, lessen injuries and improve the quality of life of all New Yorkers.” Some facts for you to share - if you like.... The facts are that the majority of your constituents want accountability for the e-vehicle riders who leave the scene of a crash with an injured victim lying on the ground, as they do the majority of the time, and for riders who ride egregiously with no consequence. With registered and visible plates on all e- vehicles, traffic cameras, which do not discriminate, will capture dangerous rider behavior (speeding, running lights..) and send the rider a traffic ticket. ONLY accountability changes behavior. It has been FIVE YEARS of zero accountability for e-vehicle riders who maim and kill New Yorkers. Enough is enough! How many more pedestrians, cyclists, e-bikers and dogs must be maimed or killed before this commonsense bill is passed? Listen to the MAJORITY and not the wealthy, special- interest bike lobby (Transportation Alternatives); a group that wants no rider accountability, because they receive huge donations from Lyft/Citibike and delivery app companies, and therefore are against any safety regulation that might dissuade bike riding-- including requiring HELMETS for adults. The bike lobby puts their profits over human lives. They value money over safety. Listen to US, the majority! NYPD ( and therefore DOT stats) are entirely inaccurate. Police rarely report crashes. Often, the EMT arrives on the crash scene before police arrive and take the injured victim to ER. Victims don't know to report or care to report after their hospital release, when their focus is on healing. The victims who do try to report after their release are often told "it's too late." Even when police ARE on the crash scene, they often don't report because "rider fled-so there is no point." All car crashes are reported, as they should be. The NYPD reports less than 50 e-vehicle crashes with injuries for 2024! Unbelievable! Bellevue Hospital Emergency Room "admitted 220 micromobility injuries in 2023 through Aug 2024 alone, stated Bellevue ER Doctor Angela Pfaff, who sees and average of one admission per day". And, Bellevue is only ONE of fifty-four ER Hospitals in NYC! Thank you! πŸ’œJanet Janet Schroeder NYC-EVSA, Co-Founder & Director www.nycevsa.org Virus-free.www.avast.com

NJ backlash against e-bike management

https://whyy.org/articles/new-jersey-e-bike-law-discrimination/*** Naturally there is grousing about new laws designed to create a safer and more responsible bike and micro transport environment. Seniors, Delivery agents, Complain about expense and time and trouble. Hey folks if the zealots and commercial vampires hadn't created an environment of jeopardy**Move fast and break things** and focussed on creating a lawabiding street and sidewalk culture-everyone would have been better served. Europe showed the way. America-Transportation Alternatives and Placemaking ignored the civility and public safety aspects and blasted and armtwisted ahead. Karma is a bitch. Endorsement of Cong. Dan Goldman

I attended a meet and greet for Congressman Dan Goldman on Sunday at the residence of Sean Sweeney. Head of The Soho Alliance and a long time ally in CARR toward the establishment of a responsible bike/micro transport culture. Dan Goldman has been a point person in the effort to bring accountabiity to the current president who is seemingly decompensating before the eyes of America and the world.Dan lead the first impeachment of the moral midget. He has a background as a prosecutor for the Southern District of New York. Pursuing facts and truth without fear or favor. Graduate of Yale and Stanford Law. He has conducted himself with vigor in as many areas as he has time and energy. An honorable pragmatist. In brief for the purposes of this blog-the OPPONENT in the primary is backed by Transportation Alternatives. Nemesis of a responsible bike culture and destroyer of quality of life and public safety. The OPPONENT is a career politician who lost in his bid to become mayor and is seeking another another pull on the public teat. Running against Dan Goldman is akin to supporting Donald Trump. Dan Goldman is not only a vigorous advocate for the district but an invaluable resource for the nation. Keeping Dan on the job is vital to retaking the majority in congress. Please support DAN GOLDMAN. VOTE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.

Bloomberg-What's killing the e-bike Biz?

Extensive piece about the e-bike Biz.From Bloomberg Enterprises. Keep in mind that it is the tiny titan of Bloomberg who was primarily responsible for jet starting the irresponsible bike/micro transport culture by withholding enforcement by the NYPD. Nicely removing the backbone of a responsible bike culture. Undermining the NYPD and generating an environment of on going jeopardy and needless deaths, injuries and constant public safety dread. Well done Mike. ****https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-01-14/what-s-killing-off-all-the-e-bike-companies?utm_campaign=bn&utm_medium=dis

NYT on line Thurs July 25,2019: J Brown

The New York Times Your comment has been approved! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with The New York Times community. Jack Brown | New York City No effort to establish a responsible bike culture. The NYPD limited in its ability to enforce the law. Bike build out done as fast as possible. Bike infrastructure set the table for world class congestion. Congestion-not environmentally or human friendly-begat a congestion tax. Congestion cost NYC $35 billion$ in lost business in 2017. NYC missing from top 20 global biking cities. Deaths. Serious injuries. Untold # harrowing close calls for pedestrians. What's wrong with this picture? New York is better than this.
