Thursday 5/28/26 just after 8 AM a standup scooter likley traveling at a lethal rate of speed crashed into a lightweight pedal bike. 2 fatalities resulted. Push has come to shove. Going on 3 decades of encroaching chaos has resulted in an environment of lurking and naked danger. It's clear that the well funded zealotry of Transportation Alternatives and the avarice of the delivery apps has warped the streets and sidewalks with a lack of safe passage. The NYPD has been undermined with the obstinate resistance of TA to enforcement. Enforcement is the backbone of a responsible bike culture. TA has an addled approach to transportation advocacy. Reckless disregard for public safety.
