Personal encounter Jack Brown

On Saturday walking back from the West Village I was crossing Seventh Ave-Headed Eastt. The light was with me. Approaching the east side at the bike lane there was a female cyclist-Citibike-stopped for the redlight. She engrossed in her cell phone. Left foot on the curb. Suddenly a male Citibike rider came at a potentially damageing clip. He was looking to his left with no apparent intention of stopping for the light. I saw him. He was close enough to have collided if I hadn't yelled "Hey!" He appeared impervious to his dangerous behavior. Merely glanced at me as if I was a fleeting curiosity and wheeled indifferently through the red light. Take nothing for granted as a pedestrian in The Big Apple. The life you save may be your own.
