Toward a Better New York-July 5 Collision betw NYPD car & Ci Bike Ave A

               Toward a Better New York

To various elected public officials. Re Mayor De Blasio's directing the NYPD
to enforce the law against rogue cyclists. "

To:  EPO above  ARE YOU IN SUPPORT OF ENFORCING THE LAWS RE CYCLING?
The NYPD has long been suppressed by the mayor's office. This at the behest of
Transportation Alternatives. Why? Enforcement would reduce bike ridership. This
displayed a reckless indifference to human life. As a result NYC  enabled a wildly
irresponsible bike culture.. Resulting in a massive public safety issue. NO ONE benefits
from an out of control cycling community. Pedestrians.Motorists. Fellow cyclists.

The Coalition Against Rogue Riding is gratified to see that Mayor De Blasio has
given the order to Commissioner O Neill to do the NYPD job. This needs to be sustained
and effective. The NYPD has been undermined for the better part of 2 decades.
This will not be a quick or easy cultural rehabilitation.

New York did NOT make a list of the top 20 cycling cities in the world. Vancouver
and Montreal are 2 N American cities that did. Where is it written that going green-
being environmentally conscious means enabling cycling lawlessness.? The misguided
policy has resulted in needless deaths. Numerous injuries. Too many harrowing close
calls to estimate    .New York City is better than this.

It is time that a cooperative approach is employed to educate cyclists and enforce
the law applying to cyclists. This for the BENEFIT OF ALL..

Looking forward to a better New York. Thankyou.

Better coverage from Abc news tonight than others reporting " cop rammed cyclist".
